Gettin’ political
In light of Super Tuesday, here are some political observations from the culture…
- James Dobson really dislikes John McCain. At least that’s the message I get from this article at his Focus on the Family site subtly titled “I Cannot, and Will Not, Vote for McCain“. Dobson explains his reasons in some detail, and he acknowledges that this will, in all likelihood, keep him from voting for a presidential candidate in November. McCain’s position on abortion seems to match Dobson’s, but Dobson finds much to dislike in McCain’s record on other family issues. Dobson emphasizes that this is only his personal opinion, not that of Focus on the Family, but Dobson is an opinion-shaper, and I’m sure he’d like to see other conservatives sit this one out…IF McCain gets the nomination. I suppose I don’t have to tell you that James Dobson won’t be voting Democrat.
- In my opinion, nothing better describes the difference between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama than this Wired story showing that Microsoft employees love Hillary and Google employees love Obama. Microsoft is the Boomer old-guard; Google is unquestionably today’s new power. So what about Apple employees? BTW, the folks at The Onion seem to agree with me.

Wow… You gotta respect Dobsons’ stance… He sure gave some excellent points, unfortunately it made everything gloomy! Who is a good candidate? Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be voting either.
I do respect Dobson for taking this stance. However, Presidential elections have become either voting against a person or voting for the least objectionable one. In this case, by not voting, Dobson is voting for the Democratic nominee. At this point it is looking like Obama will be that nominee. This not only scares me personally but religeously. I have seen too many things coming from his lips that make me hope the Rapture happens on Jan 22nd if Obama is elected President.
